Dr. Shaikh specializes in environmental and natural resource economics and econometrics with a focus on market-based instruments for environmental policy, markets for ecosystem service provision and non-market valuation. Dr. Shaikh is a Lecturer at the University of Chicago in the Program on Global Environment and Public Policy Studies.
Dr. Shaikh holds a Ph.D. from the University of California-Davis, an M.A. from Colorado State University and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. She has published in major professional journals on topics ranging from natural resource-based recreation to climate change and agriculture to the economics of ecosystem services.
